Questions to ask about price

  1. Is there a minimum number of seats or a minimum annual spend?
  2. What is the discount for annual billing, and can we start monthly?
  3. How much can the price rise at renewal, and is the increase capped in the contract?
  4. Are there one-time costs for implementation, onboarding or data migration?

Is QuickBooks Time worth the price?

Good value for a small team on QuickBooks Online that wants hours to flow into payroll without another tool. At 20 users, Time Premium comes to about $2,640 per year at list price, with one admin free and promotions excluded. It gets expensive or awkward if you need GPS, which means stepping up to Elite, or if you are not on QuickBooks Online, since an account is required. Teams hoping for an annual discount will not find one.

Worth it if

  • Existing QuickBooks Online users syncing hours to payroll and accounting.
  • Field crews needing GPS clock-in and scheduling.
  • Small businesses wanting phone and chat support included.

Look elsewhere if

  • Companies not on QuickBooks Online (account required)
  • Teams wanting annual billing or a free plan.
  • Buyers who need published SSO.

Cheaper per seat than QuickBooks Time

Pricing details most reviews leave out

  • Needs a QuickBooks Online account.
  • Monthly billing only; the base fee is charged on top of per-user fees.
  • GPS geofencing is Elite only; Time Premium has no GPS.
  • Time kiosk tablet is sold separately.
  • Phone and chat support is included on Premium and Elite.

Our verdict on QuickBooks Time

QuickBooks Time is the former TSheets, now sold by Intuit and branded QuickBooks Workforce alongside the QuickBooks Time name. It needs a QuickBooks Online account and bills monthly only, as a base fee plus a per-user fee. The entry plan, Time Premium, lists at $20 a month plus $10 per user, with one admin free. G2 shows 4.5 out of 5 across 1,448 reviews.

The value case is strongest for small businesses already on QuickBooks, where hours sync to payroll and accounting and phone and chat support come with the plan. The catch is that the cheap plan has no GPS, geofencing is Elite only, and the time kiosk is sold separately. There is no free plan and no annual option, so you cannot lock in a lower rate.
